Water and Woods Is happening! August 1-4, 2025
I’m so delighted you found yourself here…
What have you been craving recently?
Is it time away under tall oak and pine trees, feet dangling from giant granite boulders, while you lie like a salamander in the sun? Is it collaboration with other creatives? A place to share ideas and build upon your own creative practice and interest? Maybe it’s as simple as dedicated time to work on a project and reconnect with your inner muse. If it’s any of the above, then you have come to the right place - Join us for 3 days of creativity and relaxation in Nevada City, CA August 1-4 2025.
Introducing your 2025 Creative
Rest & Restore Retreat
Hosted by Little Green Eyes and Friends
Join us August 1- 4 for three nights and two days in the Northern California foothills in possibly the most idyllic little historic town you’ve ever seen. Together we will gather for morning yoga down by the river to connect with our breath and ground ourselves into our bodies. Breakfast, snacks and dinner are all included in your ticket price. Nothing is mandatory at this retreat, but should you choose to join us, we will have time each day down at a PRIVATE (this is extremely rare in this area and worth every cent of your ticket price) beach on the Yuba River. Following the river, you will have 3 hours of creative time, where you can join the group for creative talks and activities led by Morgan Brown, or you can take this time to focus on and collaborate ideas for your own project. You won’t be forced to be any more extroverted than you want to be. We will have all of our meals together, and it will be a great time to connect with your fellow retreat goers.
This is an extremely intimate event that has been capped at 16 people. Both men, women and non-binary identified are welcome. This inclusive retreat is about connecting to your inner muse and taking time to yourself to rest and restore your soul to emerge back into the world more alive and inspired!
Your 3 day retreat will include:
Breakfast, Snacks and Dinner Each Day
Leave your nourishment up to us - with a mainly vegetarian, optional gluten-free and dairy-free meals, we have you covered. We are still working on the menu but think, sushi, pad thai, blueberry pancakes with fruit toppings. We promise not to disappoint
Choose Your Accommodation
When you go to reserve your ticket, you will have the option to choose your preferred sleeping arrangements. We have a 7 bedroom home with queen beds in each room as well as multiple camping spots. You may share your bedroom with someone. Details on purchasing this option on the final checkout page. All tickets must be purchased with either a camping or indoor sleeping arrangement. There are no “day passes” offered at this time.
Morning Yoga
From 9:30–10:30, each morning, yoga will be led by Jessie Marks down on the river decks right next to the Yuba river and a beautiful waterfall. Jessie is a long-time yoga instructor, with more than eleven years of experience teaching Yin, Restorative & Vinyasa flow. Her mission is to combine elements of both modalities, that of breath consciousness, yogic movement, and the powerful art of massage therapy to bring healing and balance to others.
Daily Group River Photo Session / Play Time at PRIVATE River Spot
Indulge in a group underwater river session hosted by Little Green Eyes. During these sessions, we swim as a group in the river while Jessie gives direction and photographs you. You will leave with beautiful photos of yourself, both solo and in a group setting. Nudity is always optional for your photoshoot. Also, if you choose to opt out of the photoshoot, that’s totally fine. Everything is optional - Jessie believes in free choice above all else. Spend your time at the river exactly the way you want to.
Daily Creative Workshop Time
This is YOUR time. Join us for creative talks and activities with Morgan Brown, a talented photographer, writer, printmaker, painter. If you’re looking for your own artistic retreat, split away and work on your own project. Take the retreat at your speed, follow your curiosity, your inspiration and your desires. The purpose of your time here is to reconnect with your inner muse. Talk about and workshop your ideas. Find potential collaborators to plant and water the seeds of your creative desires with.
Live Music
Enjoy live acoustic music by the one and only Aviva Le Fey.
Aviva sings heart songs – some for love lost, and others for humanity forgotten – with a tone and cadence that somehow conjures both the vintage pop of the Fifties and the dark, dreamy sounds you might hear coming from that haunted backwoods bar in the 1990s Twin Peaks, Washington. She offers a frequency of hopefulness, a frequency to cry to, a frequency that begs you to dig a bit deeper. Her songs are honest and endearing, bold and restless, easy to listen to and sometimes hard to hear. Aviva’s music invites you to look into the dark cracks of everything – it can be intimidating, but as we know, that’s how the light gets in.
Aviva is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the Bay Area, and has traveled far and wide to share her songs and play music with friends. Recently, Aviva has supported John Craigie, Rainbow Girls, and Marty O’Reilly and the Old Soul Orchestra. She is a proud child of Oakland’s Long Road Society.
1:1 Creative Matchmaking Call with Jessie Before The Event
You and Jessie will jump on a 30-60 minute call before the retreat to talk about what you’re looking to bring into your life, what you want to create over the course of the next year, the event and the type of people you want to connect with. Jessie will take this info and match you with other participants she thinks you’ll connect with that might be possible collaborators and friends for you.

Everything you need to know for your visit to
Nevada City
Nestled amidst the picturesque Sierra Nevada foothills lies Nevada City, a quaint gem exuding charm at every turn. Steeped in Gold Rush history, this vibrant town boasts enchanting Victorian architecture lining its narrow streets, where time seems to slow down to a leisurely pace. Meandering through the heart of downtown, visitors are greeted by eclectic boutiques, art galleries brimming with local talent, and cozy cafes serving up artisanal delights. Nature lovers are drawn to the nearby Yuba River for refreshing dips in emerald pools and leisurely hikes along sun-dappled trails. With its lively community festivals, including colorful parades and spirited street performances, Nevada City effortlessly captures the essence of small-town charm, inviting all who wander its charming streets to linger a little longer and bask in its timeless allure.
Getting Here
If you are driving a camper van or motorhome or prefer to camp, I may be able to host you or check out:
Nevada City is 1.5 hours from Sacramento Airport and 3 hours drive from San Francisco.
We only have one Uber and 2 taxi’s in town and very little public transportation so your best bet is to rent a car if you’re flying in. I like to check out Turo for the best prices.
If you are uncomfortable driving, there is a train that goes from San Francisco and Sacramento up to Colfax, CA. Please message me for more info. On average, an Uber from Sacramento Airport is around $100 one way.
Travel tip: If you have a travel credit card, be sure to read the fine print of your benefits. Often there is some travel insurance offered as well as rental car coverage for things like broken windshields etc. Renting your car with your travel card can not only earn you points but offer peace of mind.
Reno : 1.5 hrs drive
Tahoe: 1hr 20m drive
SF: 3hrs drive
LA: 7.5hr drive
1 hour to Sugar Bowl & Boreal Ski Resorts
Yosemite: 5hr drive
Sonoma wine country: 2hr 45m drive
If you are visiting from out of town and are looking for places to stay on either side of the retreat dates, please check out some of my favorite accommodations below:
